5 Tips for a Successful Parent-Teacher Conference
1. Talk to your child: Before attending the conference, Landers recommends first getting the student's input.
"What is it they perceive as an issue; what is it they like best
about class; what is it they like least," are potential questions to
ask, she says. "Is there anything in particular they want you to [tell]
the teacher?"
Children should also be reminded of where their parents stand, says Landers.
"Make sure the child knows that you are their advocate," she notes.
"This [conference] in no way means that the parent and teacher are
ganging up on the student."
2. Prepare talking points: List topics or questions
to discuss about the child's behavior, academics, or anything else,
Landers says. And since time is limited for both the parent and
teacher, arrange the most important points to be at the beginning of
the discussion, Landers recommends, so you're sure to cover them.
3. Give personal insight: At the conference, parents
should tell teachers if the student has medical issues or gets
bullied, Landers says. Teachers should also be aware of "emotional
upheavals" the child may be dealing with, she adds, such as divorce or
the death of a loved one.
"You know your child in an entirely different light," says Landers.
"Many times, your personal knowledge can be the key to helping [your
child] be more successful."
4. Be open-minded: If parents are sensitive to
something the teacher says about the student, Landers recommends,
"Don't get angry, [and] don't get defensive. If the teacher presents
something, rather than acting immediately, ask questions [and] ask for
examples."
Parents and teachers form a partnership, she says, so their relationship should not be adversarial.
5. Leave on a good note: Before heading home, parents should let teachers know the best way to be contacted, Landers suggests.

Sungguh dosa dan kemaksiatan itu akan dibayar spontan di dunia sesuai dengan masyi-atillah. Imam Ibnul Qayyim Al-Jauzi telah menghitung dan ternyata ada kurang lebih 40 balasan bagi pelaku sebuah kemaksiatan.
Saya kutip dan tulis dalam sebuah bulletin mungil, agar seluruh lapisan mengetahuinya dengan mudah. Ibnul Qayyim Al-Jauzi menuturkan, bahwa efek kemaksiatan itu sebagaimana berikut:
1. Tidak mendapatkan ilmu. Sebab ilmu itu adalah nur yang diberikan Allah ke suatu hati, sedangkan maksiat itu berfungsi mematikan nyala nur tersebut. Imam Malik pernah berkata kepada Imam Syafi'i muridnya: Sungguh aku telah melihat Allah memberikan nur ke hatimu, maka jangan engkau matikan dengan kemaksiatan.
2. Kehilangan jatah rizkinya. Nabi bersabda: "Sungguh seseorang bisa tidak mendapatkan rizkinya sebab dosa yang dilakukannya." (HR. Ahmad dan Hakim dari Tsauban)
3. Pelaku maksiat akan mengalami kegersangan jiwa terhadap Rabbnya. Dia akan kehilangan kelezatan ma'iyatillah, padahal hal ini tidak bisa dinilai dengan kenikmatan duniawi. Jika semua kelezatan duniawi disatukan tidak akan bisa mengobati kekeringan jiwa seseorang.
4. Dia juga akan merasa buas dengan sesama, utamanya dengan para pelaku kebaikan. Semakin kuat rasa kebuasannya semakin jauh dia dengan manusia baik.
5. Semua perkaranya menjadi semakin susah. Maka dari itu, ia akan selalu mendapati pintu tertutup dalam segala hal.
Kebalikannya, orang yang menjauhi dosa akan selalu menemukan way out dari segala urusannya. Allah berfirman yang artinya: " Siapa saja yang bertakwa kepada Allah, maka Allah mejadikan segala urusanya menjadi lebih mudah."
6. Pendosa ini akan mendapati kegelapan hati. Ia merasakannya seperti saat berjalan pada malam kelam. Pertama kali akan tampak secara lahiriyah di matanya, lalu menjalar ke mukanya dan akhirnya akan diketahui oleh semua orang.
7. Kemaksiatan bisa melemahkan badan dan hati seseorang. Maka dari itu, ia tidak memiliki keteguhan hati dan juga akan terlihat loyo saat kegentingan yang memerlukannya walau kelihatan tegap badan dan ototnya.
8. Kehilangan ketaatan dan banyak pahala. Karena dengan dosa tersebut, ia terhalang untuk melakukan berbagai ketaatan. Padahal sebuah amal ketaatan itu jauh lebih baik daripada dunia seisinya.
9. Kemaksiatan mengurangi jatah umur dan menghilangkan keberkahannya. Karena amal kebajikan itu menambah umur seseorang maka kemaksiatan (amal bejat) dapat mengurangi usia. Rahasianya, usia seseorang adalah waktu hidupnya. Sedangkan hidup tidak berarti kecuali dengan berbakti (beribadah) kepada Penciptanya, merasa nikmat dengan mencintai dan mengingatNya serta lebih mendahulukan ridhaNya.
10. Kemaksiatan menumbuhkan benih-benih dosa. Sebagian ulama berkomentar: Termasuk balasan amal buruk (maksiat) adalah amal buruk berikutnya. Sedangkan balasan amal baik (hasanat) ialah amalan baik selanjutnya.
11. Kemaksiatan melemahkan keinginan pelakunya. Karena maksiat itu akan menguatkan keinginan berbuat dosa dan melemahkan keinginan bertobat.
12. Menganggap kemaksiatan sebagai hal yang biasa. Lalu lenyaplah rasa benci kepadanya dan bahkan berubah menjadi suatu tradisi. Pelakunya menjadi apatis tidak menghiraukan suara dan pandangan masyarakat.
13. Kemaksiatan salah satu faktor jatuhnya di mata Tuhan dan masyarakatnya. Allah berfirman yang artinya: " Dan siapa saja yang dihinakan oleh Allah, maka tidak ada lagi yang memuliakannya." (QS. Al-Hajj: 18)
14. Kesialan akan menghantui pelakunya.
15. Kemaksiatan mewariskan kehinaan. Karena kehormatan dan kemuliaan itu berada pada naungan taat kepada Allah. Allah berfirman yang artinya: " Siapa saja yang menginginkan kemuliaan, sesungguhnya seluruh kemuliaan itu hanya milik Allah." (QS. Fathir: 10)
16. Kemaksiatan merusak otak. Karena pikiran itu memiliki nur sedangkan maksiat fungsinya adalah memadamkan nur tersebut. Jika nur pikiran padam maka berkuranglah kebriliannya.
17. Jika dosa-dosa banyak menumpuk, maka akan lengket di hati pelakunya dan menjadikannya orang yang lalai. Sebagian ulama menafsirkan ayat yang artinya: " ... " (QS. Al-Muthoffifin: 14) dengan: Dosa di atas dosa.
18. Pelaku kemaksiatan masuk dalam rangkaian laknat Rasulullah . Maka sungguh amat merugi manusia yang didoakan buruk oleh orang yang amat mustajab doanya.
19. Dia juga kehilangan peluang untuk mendapatkan doa baik dari Rasulullah dan para malaikat.
20. Dosa dan kemaksiatan itu termasuk faktor utama dalam kerusakan bumi. Allah berfirman yang artinya: " Sungguh telah tampak jelas kerusakan di daratan dan lautan sebab tingkah polah manusia (dengan dosanya) agar merasakan akibat tindakannya tersebut dan mau kembali." (QS. Ar-Rum: 11)
21. Juga bisa mematikan api kecemburuan dalam hati. Padahal ghirah itu merupakan energi dan penawar hati. Manusia termulai adalah yang paling hebat kadar ghirahnya, utamanya pada diri sendiri , keluarga dan seluruh umat.
22. Kemaksiatan bisa menghilangkan sifat malu. Malu merupakan inti kehidupan hati seseorang dan pangkal segala kebaikan. Jika hilang, maka ia kehilangan banyak hal. Nabi bersabda: "Rasa malu itu adalah kebaikan seluruhnya." (HR. Muslim)
23. Demikian pula dapat melemahkan rasa pengagungan terhadap Allah dalam hati seseorang dan menghilangkan kewibawaanya di mata manusia. Karena termasuk balasan dari meremehkan Allah adalah dicabutnya kewibawaan di mata orang lain, baik ia rela atau tidak. Akhirnya ia tidak memiliki harga di mata mereka.
24. Kemaksiatan termasuk salah satu faktor dilupakan Allah dan dibiarkan bergelimang dengan hawa nafsu dan setannya. Maka dari itu, kebinasaan dan kehancuran saja yang akan didapat. Allah berfirman yang artinya: " Waha orang-orang yang beriman, bertaqwalah kalian kepada Allah, hendaknya seseorang itu melihat apa yang telah dipersembahkan untuk esok dan sekali lagi bertakwalah kepada Allah. Karena sesungguhnya Allah Maha Tahu mengenai apa saja yang kalian kerjakan. Dan janganlah kalian seperti orang-orang yang melupakan Allah, maka Allah melupakan jiwa mereka. Mereka itu adalah orang-orang fasik." (QS. Al-Hasyr: 18-19)
25. Dosa dan maksiatu itu memperlemah jalan seseorang menuju Allah dan akhirat dan bahkan menyebabkannya terputus.
26. Dosa-dosa itu juga bisa menyingkirkan nikmat dan mendatangkan bencana. Karena termasuk balasan buruk bagi pelakunya adalah menghilangkan kenimatan yang datang dan memutus aliran nikmat yang akan diterima. Oleh karenanya, seorang hamba selalu dalam kenikmatan selama tidak melanggar dosa dan tidak mendapati malapetakan melainkan karena dosa pula. Allah berfirman yang artinya: "... " (QS. Al-Anfal: 53) seorang penyair bersenandung:
Jika anda dalam kenikmatan maka peliharalah,
karena kemaksiatan itu menghilangkan kenikmatan-kenikmatan,
Hapuslah kemaksiatan tersebut dengan menaatiNya..,
karena siksa dan ancamanNya amatlah cepat
27. Sebab kemaksiatan, Allah menimpakan ketakutan dan rasa kecut di hati pelakunya. Karena ketaatan itu adalah benteng Allah yang agung, siapa saja yang memasukinya akan mendapati jaminan keamanan dari siksa dunia dan akhirat. Sedangkan pelaku kemaksiatan tidak terlihat kecuali dalam kondisi penuh ketakutan dan kehawatiran, sebab dihantui perasaan dosanya terus menerus.
28. Kemaksiatan itu membelokkan hati seseorang dari komitmen dan konsisten kepada inhiraf (melenceng) dan sakit. Sungguh, pengaruh hati itu amat besar seperti sakit atas badan seseorang. Bahkan dosa-dosa itu pada hakikatnya adalah penyakit hati yang hanya bisa sembuh dengan meninggalkannya.
29. Kemaksiatan itu mematikan mata hati, meredupkan cahayanya, menutup jalan ilmu dan menghalangi pintu hidayah.
30. Kemaksiatan mengkerdilakan jiwa dan menjadikannya hina dina. Sebaliknya amal taat mengembangkan jiwa, membersihkan dan membesarkannya. Allah berfirman yang artinya: " Sungguh telah berbahagia orang yang ..." (QS. As-Syams: 9-10)
31. Dosa juga menjatuhkan kedudukan seseorang di sisi Allah dan di mata manusia. Karena orang termulia di sisi Allah adalah yang paling bertaqwa, sedangkan yang paling dekat denganNya ialah orang yang paling taat kepadaNya.
32. Kemaksiatan merampas nama terpuji dan kemuliaan. Maka ia kehilangan predikat mukmin, pelaku kebaikan dan orang yang bertaqwa. Tapi mendapatkan predikat pendurhaka, fasik, penzina, pemabok dll.
33. Kemaksiatan memutus tali hubungan seseorang dengan Rabbnya. Jika hal itu terputus, maka terputuslah aliran kebaikan dan hanya menemui semua faktor keburukan.
34. Kemaksiatan menghapuskan keberkahan-keberkahan, baik keberkahan umur, rizki, ilmu, pekerjaan dan ketaatan. Secara keseluruhan menghilangkan keberkahan agami dan duniawi.
35. Kemaksiatan menjadikan pelakunya hina dina. Padahal memiliki peluang menjadi lebih terhormat. Nabi bersabda: "Aku diutus dihadapan hari Kiamat. Rzkiku berada di bawah tombakku dan ditimpakan orang yang tidak menaatiku kehinaan dan kekerdilan." (HR. Ahmad dari Abdullah bin Amr)
36. Kemaksiatan menarik makhluk lain untuk lebih berani kepada pelakunya. Maka dari itu, setan lebih berani menimpakan penyakit, kesesatan, waswas, kesedihan dan kesusahan. Demikian pula setan manusia dan hewan lain.
37. Kemaksiatan itu menghianati pelakunya dalam hal yang amat diperlukannya. Baik itu dalam mendapatkan ilmu, lebih mementingkan sesuatu yang remeh daripada yang lebih mulia.
38. Maksiat bisa menjadikan lupa pelakunya terhadap dirinya sendiri. Jika ia melupakannya maka akan menyia-nyiakan, merusakkan dan menghancurkannya.
Allah berfirman yang artinya: " Dan janganlah kalian seperti orang-orang yang melupakan Allah lalu Allah lupa terhadap diri mereka sendiri. Mereka itu adalah orang-orang fasik." (Al-Hasyr: 19). Juga dalam ayat: "Mereka lupa Allah, maka Allah lupa mereka." (At-Taubah: 67)
39. Maksiat menjauhkan diri pelakunya dari para penolongnya. Maka ia akan lebih dekat kepada setan.
40. Termasuk efek maksiat adalah kehidupan sulit di dunia, kubur dan siksa pedih di akhirat. Allah berfirman yang artinya: " Dan siapa saja yang berpaling dari mengingatKu, maka sungguh ia akan menemui kehidupan susah." (Thoha: 124)
Ini semua adalah aneka efek maksiat dan dosa. Orang yang menggunakan akalnya akan merasa cukup untuk bertaubat dan kembali kepada Allah dengan salah satunya saja. Maka sungguh amat layak untuk seorang muslim untuk segera bertobat secara benar. Allah berfirman yang artinya:
" Katakanlah, Waha para hambaKu yang telah menzalimi dirinya sendiri, janganlah kalian berputus asa dari rahmat Allah. Sesungguhnya Allah mengampuni seluruh dosa. Sesungguhnya Allah Maha pengampun dan Maha penyayang." (az-Zumar: 53)
Nabi bersabda: "Bahwasanya Allah membentangkan kedua Tangannya pada malam hari untuk menerima tobat orang yang berbuat dosa di siang hari. Dan membukanya pada siang hari untuk menerima tobat orang yang berbuat dosa pada malam hari."
Jauhilah tobat yang bohong yang hanya dibibir saja, sementara hatinya selalu ingin melakukan kemaksiatan. Jangan anda anggap remah suatu kemaksiatan, karena sebab kemaksiatanlah bapak dan ibu kita dikeluarkan dari Surga. Juga penyebab Iblis dikeluarkan dari lingkungan malaikat.
Demikian pula yang menyebabkan disiksanya kaum 'Ad, kaum Tsamud dengan suatu teriakan, kaum Luth, kaum Nabi Syu'aib, Fir'aun dan pengikutnya serta maksiat merupakan penyebab segala bencana yang menimpa manusia.
Dan akhirnya, wa shallallaahu 'alaa Muhammadin wa 'alaa aalihii wa shahbihii wa sallam...

#BERSIHKAN HATI MENUJU RIDHA ILAHI#

.... Subhanallah wabihamdihi Subhanakallahumma Wabihamdika Asyhadu Allailaaha Illa Anta Astaghfiruka Wa'atuubu Ilaik ....
Sungguh dosa dan kemaksiatan itu akan dibayar spontan di dunia sesuai dengan masyi-atillah. Imam Ibnul Qayyim Al-Jauzi telah menghitung dan ternyata ada kurang lebih 40 balasan bagi pelaku sebuah kemaksiatan.
Saya kutip dan tulis dalam sebuah bulletin mungil, agar seluruh lapisan mengetahuinya dengan mudah. Ibnul Qayyim Al-Jauzi menuturkan, bahwa efek kemaksiatan itu sebagaimana berikut:
1. Tidak mendapatkan ilmu. Sebab ilmu itu adalah nur yang diberikan Allah ke suatu hati, sedangkan maksiat itu berfungsi mematikan nyala nur tersebut. Imam Malik pernah berkata kepada Imam Syafi'i muridnya: Sungguh aku telah melihat Allah memberikan nur ke hatimu, maka jangan engkau matikan dengan kemaksiatan.
2. Kehilangan jatah rizkinya. Nabi bersabda: "Sungguh seseorang bisa tidak mendapatkan rizkinya sebab dosa yang dilakukannya." (HR. Ahmad dan Hakim dari Tsauban)
3. Pelaku maksiat akan mengalami kegersangan jiwa terhadap Rabbnya. Dia akan kehilangan kelezatan ma'iyatillah, padahal hal ini tidak bisa dinilai dengan kenikmatan duniawi. Jika semua kelezatan duniawi disatukan tidak akan bisa mengobati kekeringan jiwa seseorang.
4. Dia juga akan merasa buas dengan sesama, utamanya dengan para pelaku kebaikan. Semakin kuat rasa kebuasannya semakin jauh dia dengan manusia baik.
5. Semua perkaranya menjadi semakin susah. Maka dari itu, ia akan selalu mendapati pintu tertutup dalam segala hal.
Kebalikannya, orang yang menjauhi dosa akan selalu menemukan way out dari segala urusannya. Allah berfirman yang artinya: " Siapa saja yang bertakwa kepada Allah, maka Allah mejadikan segala urusanya menjadi lebih mudah."
6. Pendosa ini akan mendapati kegelapan hati. Ia merasakannya seperti saat berjalan pada malam kelam. Pertama kali akan tampak secara lahiriyah di matanya, lalu menjalar ke mukanya dan akhirnya akan diketahui oleh semua orang.
7. Kemaksiatan bisa melemahkan badan dan hati seseorang. Maka dari itu, ia tidak memiliki keteguhan hati dan juga akan terlihat loyo saat kegentingan yang memerlukannya walau kelihatan tegap badan dan ototnya.
8. Kehilangan ketaatan dan banyak pahala. Karena dengan dosa tersebut, ia terhalang untuk melakukan berbagai ketaatan. Padahal sebuah amal ketaatan itu jauh lebih baik daripada dunia seisinya.
9. Kemaksiatan mengurangi jatah umur dan menghilangkan keberkahannya. Karena amal kebajikan itu menambah umur seseorang maka kemaksiatan (amal bejat) dapat mengurangi usia. Rahasianya, usia seseorang adalah waktu hidupnya. Sedangkan hidup tidak berarti kecuali dengan berbakti (beribadah) kepada Penciptanya, merasa nikmat dengan mencintai dan mengingatNya serta lebih mendahulukan ridhaNya.
10. Kemaksiatan menumbuhkan benih-benih dosa. Sebagian ulama berkomentar: Termasuk balasan amal buruk (maksiat) adalah amal buruk berikutnya. Sedangkan balasan amal baik (hasanat) ialah amalan baik selanjutnya.
11. Kemaksiatan melemahkan keinginan pelakunya. Karena maksiat itu akan menguatkan keinginan berbuat dosa dan melemahkan keinginan bertobat.
12. Menganggap kemaksiatan sebagai hal yang biasa. Lalu lenyaplah rasa benci kepadanya dan bahkan berubah menjadi suatu tradisi. Pelakunya menjadi apatis tidak menghiraukan suara dan pandangan masyarakat.
13. Kemaksiatan salah satu faktor jatuhnya di mata Tuhan dan masyarakatnya. Allah berfirman yang artinya: " Dan siapa saja yang dihinakan oleh Allah, maka tidak ada lagi yang memuliakannya." (QS. Al-Hajj: 18)
14. Kesialan akan menghantui pelakunya.
15. Kemaksiatan mewariskan kehinaan. Karena kehormatan dan kemuliaan itu berada pada naungan taat kepada Allah. Allah berfirman yang artinya: " Siapa saja yang menginginkan kemuliaan, sesungguhnya seluruh kemuliaan itu hanya milik Allah." (QS. Fathir: 10)

Karena termasuk balasan dari meremehkan Allah adalah dicabutnya kewibawaan di mata orang lain, baik ia rela atau tidak. Akhirnya ia tidak memiliki harga di mata mereka.
24. Kemaksiatan termasuk salah satu faktor dilupakan Allah dan dibiarkan bergelimang dengan hawa nafsu dan setannya. Maka dari itu, kebinasaan dan kehancuran saja yang akan didapat. Allah berfirman yang artinya: " Waha orang-orang yang beriman, bertaqwalah kalian kepada Allah, hendaknya seseorang itu melihat apa yang telah dipersembahkan untuk esok dan sekali lagi bertakwalah kepada Allah. Karena sesungguhnya Allah Maha Tahu mengenai apa saja yang kalian kerjakan. Dan janganlah kalian seperti orang-orang yang melupakan Allah, maka Allah melupakan jiwa mereka. Mereka itu adalah orang-orang fasik." (QS. Al-Hasyr: 18-19)
25. Dosa dan maksiatu itu memperlemah jalan seseorang menuju Allah dan akhirat dan bahkan menyebabkannya terputus.
26. Dosa-dosa itu juga bisa menyingkirkan nikmat dan mendatangkan bencana. Karena termasuk balasan buruk bagi pelakunya adalah menghilangkan kenimatan yang datang dan memutus aliran nikmat yang akan diterima. Oleh karenanya, seorang hamba selalu dalam kenikmatan selama tidak melanggar dosa dan tidak mendapati malapetakan melainkan karena dosa pula. Allah berfirman yang artinya: "... " (QS. Al-Anfal: 53) seorang penyair bersenandung:
Jika anda dalam kenikmatan maka peliharalah,
karena kemaksiatan itu menghilangkan kenikmatan-kenikmatan,
Hapuslah kemaksiatan tersebut dengan menaatiNya..,
karena siksa dan ancamanNya amatlah cepat
27. Sebab kemaksiatan, Allah menimpakan ketakutan dan rasa kecut di hati pelakunya.
